Obituary

Martha Ann Lindsey, age 77, of Oklahoma City, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Martha was born April 10, 1939, to Virgil Dalton and Myrtle Via (Rosenburg) Loyd in Decatur, Texas.

Martha grew up in the small Texas town of Decatur surrounded by loving parents and eight siblings. Life was hard and resources were limited but her folks taught her the value of hard work and the power of family and faith in the Lord.

Martha's first job as a waitress at Miller's Drive-In in Decatur was the setting for her introduction to the oilfield working, roughnecking Jack Lansing Lindsey. Martha and Jack were married December 29, 1956. The couple began their journey in Fort Worth and, shortly after, made their way to Abilene, TX, where children Bridgett Ann, Karen Ladell, and Gary Lansing were born. Jack began his 32-year career with Fram Corporation, and the family relocated to Tulsa and then eventually settled in Oklahoma City in 1970.

Martha began her sales career in 1967 having worked for Palace Office Supply in Tulsa and later Scott Rice and John Hudson Office Supply in OKC.
Martha and Jack were long-time, devoted members of Portland Avenue Baptist Church. Martha was involved in many church activities including childcare, Acteens, and so many others.

She had many personal interests including baking/cake decorating beginning with daughter Bridgett and later with granddaughter Gabby. She was famous for her white German chocolate cake, salsa, and mac-n-cheese.

Martha and Jack loved to travel the country in their motor home. Their favorite destination for 13 years was the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. Their travels also took them to Bermuda, Mexico, Hawaii, Greece, the Bahamas, Cozumel, and many other destinations far and wide.

Martha and Jack were married 57 wonderful years, when Jack went to be with our Lord in January of 2014. Her most cherished time was spent with family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always found ways to better the lives of the people around her.
She is known by all for her fun-loving and high-spirited personality. Never one to keep people guessing, she was lovingly generous with her input and opinions.

Martha is survived by daughter Karen Martin of OKC and son Gary Lindsey and wife Erin of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Renee Sams and husband Cory of Edmond; Matthew Cotter and wife Kimberly of Yukon; Lindsey Dickerson and husband Drew of OKC, Gabrielle Martin of OKC, Easter, Faith, Seth, Noah-Christian, Ellianna, and Solomon Lindsey, and great-grandchildren Jett, Bentley, and Judd. In addition, she is survived by siblings Mildred Cauthen of Decatur, TX, and Alice Davis of Runaway Bay, TX, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, siblings Melba, Mary Lou, Sonny, J.T., Kaye, and daughter and son-in-law, Bridgett and Gary Cotter.
